From East Bay Housing Organizations

A Letter to Our Readers

Posted in: About EBHO

Dear Supporter:

Thank you for your interest in the East Bay Housing Organizations’ website, an essential tool to assist activists, consumers, elected officials, municipal staff and non-profit affordable housing practitioners throughout the East Bay.  EBHO is dedicated to working with its members and allies to promote housing choices and solutions that: meet the needs of all families, stop displacement and end homelessness, and advance a vision of racial, economic, and social justice.

Highlights of EBHO’s initiatives include:

• Organizing our Annual Affordable Housing Week, a series of events in May showcasing housing solutions, trends, buildings, and resources

  • Leading a broad coalition in Concord to ensure that the full spectrum of affordable housing is a central component in the redevelopment and reuse of the Concord Naval Weapons Station;
  • Coordinating community efforts in Oakland to implement and strengthen policies that promote Affordable housing development and preservation;
  • Partnering with interfaith communities to support affordable housing and explore affordable housing development opportunities on religious properties.
  • Organizing and empowering residents to speak out for their needs in local planning processes.

In the upcoming year, we look forward to continuing our work with community-based organizations, congregations, housing staff members, public officials and affordable housing advocates and developers who are leading efforts in their communities to address the lack of Affordable housing. Together we can demonstrate and realize effective, practical and creative housing solutions for the East Bay.

We are looking forward to another successful year working with you.

Sincerely,

Amie Fishman,  Executive Director
Anne Cory, Board President
