Housing Sabbath

Varied events will take place throughout the day
Various houses of worship throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties

Housing Sabbath is the weekend of May 14-16, 2010. EBHO's Interfaith Communities United (ICU) for Affordable Housing and its partners, Interfaith Committee for Workers Justice (IOWJ) and the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) are working with congregations who will open their services on the weekend of May 14-16th to address the critical crisis of affordable housing. EBHO has developed resources including sacred scriptures from various faith traditions, prayers, litanies and worship bulletin inserts. Housing Sabbath 2010 incorporates a new direction for EBHO - combining housing, immigration and low wage workers. This is a significant and insightful coming together, since if one is a low wage worker, there is high probability the same worker has two or three jobs, and a higher probability that there are housing security issues.

Contact: Phil Lawson, (510) 663-3830 x314 or Phil@EBHO.org
