Oakland At-Large Candidates Forum Report

Posted in: Affordable Housing Education Campaign

On Wednesday, May 14, as part of Affordable Housing Week, the Oakland People's Housing Coalition (of which EBHO is a leader member) and the Oakland NetWork for Responsible Development sponsored a Building Oakland for Everyone At-Large Candidates Forum.

Over 100 people from all across Oakland showed up to learn and become more educated on what the candidates for the City of Oakland's At-Large Council Office.

Of the five candidates running, three accepted our invitation to participate in the forum:

Frank Rose,

Clinton Killian,

and Rebecca Kaplan.

There was much spirited debate and discussion.

At the end of the evening, a plug was made for the upcoming Affordable Housing Week event in Oakland and throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

In the next week we will be adding video responses from each candidate to the questions that were posited.

Thank you to everyone who made the evening possible, including the League of Women Voters, and our moderator for the evening, Helen Hutchison, and the East Bay Community Foundation and its President and Chief Executive Officer Nicole Taylor, who hosted the event. Thanks to Kate O'Hara and the entire EBASE staff, as well as Margaret Salazar, EBHO member and photographer for the evening.
