Thank you for your commitment to affordable housing! As you know, East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) is a powerful membership organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and expanding affordable housing opportunities in the East Bay. To become even stronger in our advocacy campaigns, we need your support. EBHO’s members are both organizations and individuals. Please join EBHO and become a member today!
As we kick off our 2008 EBHO Membership Drive, we want to share with you a few of the exciting reasons for you to join EBHO:
- EBHO’s membership is galvanized for action: EBHO has active membership committees including Oakland Housing Issues, Concord Naval Weapons Station Conversion, Affordable Housing Week, and Interfaith Communities United for Affordable Housing. Together we can have important local and regional impact.
- EBHO is spearheading two thriving coalitions: In 2007, EBHO initiated two coalitions as part of EBHO’s Oakland and Concord campaigns - the Oakland People’s Housing Coalition and the Community Coalition for a Sustainable Concord. These broad-based coalitions are strategically positioned to win victories for affordable housing.
- EBHO is engaging non-profit affordable housing residents as advocates: One of the most effective ways to build support for affordable housing is for elected officials to hear from residents. They can testify about how affordable housing has made a positive difference in their lives, families and neighborhoods.
- EBHO is building support in the interfaith community: Through the Interfaith Action in Housing Program, EBHO is working with clergy and congregations to advocate for affordable housing and to explore development opportunities on their religious properties.
- EBHO’s 2008 Affordable Housing Week and Guidebook: In 2007, 1,500 people participated in 23 events throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. This year promises to be better than ever! Our Kick Off event will be May 8th. In its 12th year, Affordable Housing Week and our Guidebook continue to demonstrate EBHO’s consistent leadership.
- EBHO is launching our new website: EBHO’s newly designed website will include e-advocacy tools, ongoing campaign updates, and a calendar of housing events.
We would like to invite you to join EBHO and attend our upcoming Annual Meeting and Celebration. We want to hear your ideas, celebrate your membership, and acknowledge your critical support and generous contributions to EBHO and to affordable housing. This year EBHO’s Annual Meeting and Celebration will be held as follows:
Wednesday, November 14th, 2007 from 5:30-7:30 pm at MOCHA across from EBHO’s office at 538 9th Street, Suite 210
We want to build momentum for 2008 with at least 50 new members by the end of this year! Help us achieve our 2008 membership goals by contributing your dues today and spreading the word.
