(ICU) for Affordable Housing Organizes for Housing Sabbath, Sunday, May
16, 2010
ICU’s Housing Sabbath, taking place during Affordable Housing Week, is rooted in the values that we share across boundaries of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, and income levels. They are the common values of shelter for all persons, respect for our neighbors, appreciation for having a home, a place to belong, support and celebration of our diversity, fairness and our commitment to justice.
Housing Sabbath is the weekend of May 16, 2010. EBHO's ICU and its partners, Interfaith Committee for Workers Justice (ICWJ) and the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) are seeking congregations and speakers to participate. Housing Sabbath aims to motivate congregations to address the crisis of affordable housing and to engage in EBHO’s campaigns for housing justice.
Congregations can sign up for a speaker for the service or for after the service. EBHO has developed resources including sacred scriptures from various faith traditions, prayers, litanies and worship bulletin inserts. We are inviting people to sign up to speak and share their stories at one of the participating congregations. We are also seeking participants who can introduce and accompanying the Speaker. Please click HERE to sign up to become a speaker!
