EBHO Membership Drive, 2009

Dear Friend of EBHO,

Thank you for your commitment to affordable housing.  As you know, East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) is a strong and growing affordable housing advocacy membership organization.  Our membership has grown by 30% to over 180 members, and EBHO is recognized as the leading advocacy organization to preserve, protect and expand affordable housing opportunities in the East Bay. To become even more effective, we need your support!

In a severe housing crisis and during a time of political and economic upheaval, the work of EBHO and our members is all the more essential.  We demonstrate that affordable housing development and preservation provides long-term community stability and investments -- homes that people can afford today and into the future - for families, workers, seniors, and people with disabilities.

As we start our 2009 EBHO Membership Drive, we want to share with you a few of the exciting reasons for you to join EBHO:
  • EBHO's membership is advancing EBHO's campaigns and programs: EBHO's membership committees including Oakland Housing Issues, Concord Naval Weapons Station Conversion, Affordable Housing Week, Interfaith Communities United for Affordable Housing, and our newest Supportive Housing Committee jointly coordinated with EveryOne Home.
  • EBHO is launching an affordable housing resident organizing program: With the hiring of a Director of Resident Organizing, EBHO will pilot a resident leadership program in Oakland - working with you to tap the power of our constituent base of affordable housing residents to advocate for more affordable housing for low-income people.
  • EBHO continues to build and lead broad-based coalitions:  EBHO is bringing together environmentalists, labor, interfaith communities, and neighborhood and community groups with affordable housing developers, service providers and advocates. These broad-based coalitions are winning support for affordable housing.
  • EBHO is celebrating our 25th Anniversary during Affordable Housing Week in May 2009: In 2008, almost 2,000 people participated in 20 events throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. This year we will raise it up a notch and have our Kick-Off Celebration Soiree on Friday, May 8th at the Oakland Museum.

We want to build momentum for 2009 with at least 125 renewed members and 50 new members by the end of this year! Help us achieve our 2009 membership goals by contributing your dues today and spreading the word.
