Dear EBHO Members and Friends,
Thank you for your commitment to East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) and to affordable housing advocacy. Because of you and others like you, EBHO is not only growing but having a real impact.
We are writing to ask you to join or renew your EBHO membership for 2010 and make an additional contribution if you can. In these tough times, EBHO’s advocacy is that much more critical to the success of our members and partners, and to the affordable housing movement.
As the leading advocacy organization to preserve, protect and expand affordable housing opportunities in the East Bay with a 25-year track record, we are positioned to win support and demonstrate that affordable housing promotes vibrant communities. Our strength comes from our growing (50% in three years!) membership of 210 of the East Bay’s most committed affordable housing stakeholders.
Here are a few of the exciting reasons for you to join and what your membership supports:
• EBHO’s membership committees are developing policy, coordinating work, and bringing members together to craft winning strategies. Oakland Housing Issues, Interfaith Communities United for Affordable Housing, Supportive Housing with EveryOne Home, and East Bay Housing Elements are some of our key committees.
• Our campaigns are putting affordable housing at the top of city, county and regional agendas and building strong and fruitful alliances with environmentalists, labor, interfaith communities and neighborhood and community groups. In this next year, we’re moving forward with the Concord Naval Weapons Station campaign and our Oakland initiatives.
• Affordable housing residents are getting organized to be strong advocates. With EBHO’s new program in Oakland, hundreds of residents are getting trained and involved, from voter registration to advocating for more affordable housing for the lowest-income people.
• Affordable housing gets incredible visibility each year with Affordable Housing Week. Our 2010 Kick-Off Celebration is on Friday, May 7th.
